CHILD SAFETY FAQ

When your child attends TeamKids, you are trusting us with what matters most. It is a responsibility we never take for granted.

Child safety and wellbeing guide every part of our programs, from the people we employ and the training they receive to how children are supervised, supported and encouraged to speak up. We work closely with families, schools and our wider community to create environments where every child feels safe, included, respected and heard.

Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about how we keep children safe at TeamKids.

Child safety is our highest priority. We have comprehensive policies, procedures, and systems in place to create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for every child. This includes rigorous recruitment processes, team member training, supervision practices, risk management procedures, and compliance with the National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards.

Yes. All Educators and leaders are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check and undergo reference checks and qualification verification before commencing employment. Ongoing monitoring ensures these requirements remain current throughout their employment.

All TeamKids team members complete extensive induction and Child Safety training before working with children. Team members participate in ongoing professional development covering topics such as child protection, mandatory reporting, behaviour guidance, supervision, inclusion, first aid, and emergency management.

We encourage families to raise any concerns immediately. Concerns can be discussed with your Director of Service, Regional Manager, or directly with our Customer Service Team. All concerns are taken seriously, investigated appropriately, and managed in line with our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policies.

Children are actively supervised at all times. Our Educators are trained to maintain appropriate supervision based on the environment, activities, and needs of the children attending. We also adhere to Educator-to-child ratios required under regulations.

Any incident involving a child is responded to immediately. Families are notified in accordance with regulatory requirements, and incidents are documented, reviewed, and used to inform continuous improvement practices.

All TeamKids team members are trained in responding to disclosures and understanding their child protection obligations. Educators follow established reporting procedures to ensure children receive appropriate support and protection.

We foster inclusive, respectful environments where all children feel safe and valued. Educators actively support positive relationships, teach respectful behaviours, and respond promptly to any incidents of bullying, exclusion, or inappropriate conduct.

Absolutely. We value strong partnerships with families and welcome open communication. Parents and/or guardians are encouraged to engage with Educators and discuss their child’s experience within the program.

We work closely with families, schools, and relevant professionals to understand each child’s needs and develop strategies that support their participation, safety, wellbeing, and inclusion.

Individual medical management plans are followed for children with diagnosed conditions. Educators receive training in managing allergies, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, and other medical needs, with procedures in place to respond to emergencies.

Technology use is supervised and age appropriate. We have policies and procedures that support safe digital practices and ensure children are protected when accessing online resources during the program.

Yes. TeamKids is committed to the Child Safe Standards and maintaining a culture where children are respected, listened to, and protected from harm. Our Child Safe Policy outlines our commitment and expectations for team members, volunteers, families, and children.

We actively encourage children to share their ideas, opinions, and concerns. Children’s feedback helps shape our programs, activities, and service environment, ensuring they feel respected, included, and empowered.

We regularly review our policies, practices, training programs, incident data, family feedback, and regulatory requirements. Child safety is embedded in our governance, leadership, and day-to-day operations to ensure we continually strengthen our practices.

We exist to enrich children’s lives.
